In the Media: Analytics FC Provide Transfer Window Insight

While nothing matches the feverish last week of the summer window, January business runs it close as clubs rush to address the issues in their squads that could make the difference between safety and relegation, or challenging for silverware and falling short.

Analytics FC were invited to provide expert analysis using TransferLab to The i Paper, as its journalists looked for potential Newcastle midfielders and, firstly, Arsenal attackers who might match Alexander Isak’s profile.

As Oliver Young-Myles’ piece says, “The i Paper enlisted the expertise of Alex Stewart of Analytics FC – a data-driven football consultancy firm that works with numerous top clubs across Europe to identify transfer targets – to find strikers who match Isak’s profile. Using Analytics FC’s scouting platform TransferLab, which harnesses a cutting edge algorithm to assess every player action, he found…players with a profile similar to Newcastle’s main man.”

The piece went on to suggest a number of players, including currently on loan Victor Osimhen and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike.

From a Newcastle profile to Newcastle targets, we then helped Mark Douglas look for wide attackers who could “fit [Sporting Director Paul} Mitchell’s profile. That means under 23, with room to improve and who would cost between £10m and £30m.” Using TransferLab’s enhanced filtering ability, and GBE status algorithm, we suggested a number of exciting options, including Rayan Cherki and Estudiantes’ Tiago Palacios.

Powered by our unique Goal Difference Added algorithm, TransferLab’s bespoke profile creation and ‘find similar’ function can assess players with incredible precision and deliver the kind of meaningful insights that have helped clubs across the professional game.
