Analytics FC made an appearance in the media this week when Head of Content, Alex Stewart, conducted some exclusive player data analysis for the i Paper to identify possible midfield transfer candidates for Liverpool FC.
The article, titled, “5 midfielders Liverpool can sign in January to transform their season, from Jude Bellingham to Lazar Samardzic”, focuses on the Liverpool’s search for new midfield talent.
Key to the analysis was the use of Analytics FC’s flagship Data Scouting Platform, TransferLab. The platform is used by a host of top clubs including West Ham United, Leicester City, Everton, Rangers and Wolfsburg.
Simply explained: the machine learning algorithm used in TransferLab, successfully identifies the key football actions which lead to winning matches and the players who perform these actions to the greatest effect.
“It is going to be exceptionally difficult to unearth someone who is good value because those players have either moved in the summer or Liverpool change their spending habits,” Stewart pointed out.
Liverpool’s midfield was identified as an area where they could make changes with Stewart rating Bellingham as the “gold standard”.
