Analytics FC Announce Partnership with Nea Salamina

Cypriot club, Nea Salamina Famagusta FC has signed a deal with Analytics FC to use its cutting-edge data services.

Salamina will be eager to cement their place in the Protathlima Cyta Championship in the upcoming season. They achieved a quick return to the top flight with promotion this season from the second division having spent only one year in the second tier. The competition in Cyprus gets fiercer each year. The league (ranked 21st in UEFA’s ranking) is strong with a number of big spending clubs. Salamina are keen to leverage data analytics to help them achieve success in this challenging environment.

“We are back in the First Division this season and we want to build our squad to compete in a league which now has a lot of big budget teams. To do this we need to continue our strong work in youth development but we also need to find advantages in the transfer market. Our technical management are always searching for ways to innovate and get ahead of our rivals,” says Technical Director, Makis Papaioannou. “We believe that the use of data will be one of the primary methods to gain an advantage in the future, especially for teams who want to achieve success against clubs with larger budgets. As a result, we are delighted to announce this partnership with Analytics FC”.

CEO and Founder of Analytics FC, Jeremy Steele, echoed these sentiments: “I know Salamina well from my time working as a Sporting Director in Cyprus. It’s a well run club with a clear and strong identity. They’re known across the region for their excellent youth development program. We already know the power that data can have in the Cypriot market, we just have to look at the example set last season by another newly promoted team, Aris Limassol [an Analytics FC client]. Against all odds they built a squad capable of challenging at the top of the table and qualifying for Europe. Hopefully, we can help Makis and his team to integrate our services into their workflow and possibly achieve similar success”.
