Analytics FC made an appearance in the Russian media this week when Andrey Vasiliev wrote about our new partnership with Russian Premier League leaders, Dynamo Moscow.
His article, titled Players Measured by Data: how algorithms are helping to evaluate football players, mentioned how in August 2021, Analytics FC announced its entry into the Russian market, signing a contract with Dynamo Moscow.
Analytics FC’s Executive Director, Pavel Gognidze, explained to Vedomosti how Dynamo became the first service partner in Russia largely due to the recent renewal of the management team:
“The club is now run by people with experience in the banking sector,” he said. “They are used to thinking in terms of fundamental and structural changes, implementing solutions that will give the organization a competitive advantage over others. Hence their desire to hire the best performers for key positions: Director of Football Zeljko Buvach, Chief Scout Nariman Akavov, and Head Coach Sandro Schwartz. I am sure this approach will give a noticeable result during a season or two.”
Dynamo’s Chief Scout, Nariman Akavov, noted that “this co-operation will allow the club to improve their process of finding new players and work more efficiently in wider markets.”
Vasiliev also mentioned Kevin De Bruyne’s use of our Signature service in his recent contract negotiations with Manchester City
“Instead of agents, [Kevin De Bruyne] hired Analytics FC to help him. One of their products is the TransferLab platform, which, using advanced statistics, evaluates the player’s contribution to the team and also compares players with similar data (age, position on the field, role in the team, etc.) from different clubs.
“The numbers convinced City sporting director Txiki Begiristain that De Bruyne is being underestimated. Such a thorough approach added credibility to the footballer in the eyes of the club’s leaders, and they agreed to improve the contract.”
