THE CHALLENGE

  • As the use of analytics continues to gain ground in Belgium’s soccer industry, clubs are increasingly relying on data to scout players.

  • KVC Westerlo were looking for a competitive edge. They wanted to utilise advanced algorithms and harness the power of predictive analytics to find undervalued talent which fit both their business model and their ambitions to achieve promotion to the top division in Belgium.  

OUR APPROACH

  • Working with Analytics FC, Westerlo were able to leverage our data scouting services to gain a more extensive understanding of the transfer market and identify potential players based on certain parameters.

  • Firstly, using our Virtual Scout service allowed the club to convert over 60 leads per month into deep-dive reports, which included both player data and video scouting feedback.  

  • Secondly, the club provided all their scouts with access to TransferLab, our flagship data scouting platform powered by our Goal Difference Added (GDA) performance model.

THE RESULT

  • KVC Westerlo ensured that every player was evaluated through a combination of data, video, and live scouting before making final transfer decisions.

  • With our support, KVC Westerlo achieved promotion to the Belgian top-flight league.
