THE CHALLENGE
Supporting the Latvian Football Federation in convincing a talented young player with dual citizenship to choose Latvia as his national team.
Researching and quantifying the benefits of playing international football in general.
Comparing the player’s options in terms of nations for which he was eligible.
OUR APPROACH
We conducted research on how international football can impact a number of key financial outcomes, including a player’s career earnings and transfer valuation.
We also analyzed the additional exposure that playing for Latvia could provide the player.
We utilised advanced models to forecast the probability of tournament qualification for the player’s options of nations.
We also conducted an in-depth assessment of the player, showing how he could fit the national team set-up, and comparing this suitability to another option.
THE RESULT
We helped the Latvian Federation in contacting and presenting to the player, his club, and representatives.
The player is yet to make his decision but the feedback from the player and the player’s club have been of appreciation for the professional and in-depth process.
The LFF have continued positive engagement to successfully convince the player to choose Latvia as his national team. Time will tell if the player accepts the proposal.
