THE CHALLENGE
Aris Limassol, once a powerhouse in Cypriot football during the 1980s, faced more than two decades of obscurity. Struggling in the second division, the team experienced a revival when new owners took charge two and a half years ago.
The challenge was set by the new ownership to become the leading team in Cyprus and to use data to drive innovation, providing a competitive edge, especially in the areas of scouting and recruitment.
OUR APPROACH
Aris Limassol strategically partnered with Analytics FC. The cornerstone of this collaboration was the utilization of Analytics FC’s flagship data scouting software platform, TransferLab.
Leveraging TransferLab’s advanced Goal Difference Added (GDA) Algorithm, Aris identified undervalued and high-potential players to strengthen their squad. They also developed continuous monitoring and analysis of their players’ performance.
Regular collaboration and feedback sessions with Analytics FC staff helped fine-tune strategies based on evolving data insights.
THE RESULT
Aris has enjoyed a rapid rise. In their first season post-partnership (2021/22), Aris secured a European qualification spot after returning to the top division.
In the 2022/23 season, Aris clinched their first-ever league title, marking a historic achievement for the club. The team then achieved a significant milestone by qualifying for the group stages of the Europa League.
Aris shattered records with the €2.75M sale of Shavy Babicka to Toulouse, a landmark achievement for Cypriot football. With two sales exceeding €1M within the season, Aris showcased a robust and sustainable business model.
